About Us
Hi I’m Dave. Owner & Director of Sandgroper Services, and a born and bred Fremantle native.
My first 21 years of life were fanatically dedicated to Motocross racing.
Growing up, our family owned a scrap recycling plant which initially piqued my interest in machinery, cranes & rigging, which was going on all around us.
By the time I was 27, I moved away to become a professional Fisherman. Initially wetlining, charters, Fisheries research, draglines, and then 10 seasons of Crayfishing in areas from Kalbarri to Mandurah.
A love of the ocean and fishing, especially around the Abrolhos islands, has made me into what I am today.
From the age of 36, I changed tack and moved into the offshore oil & gas industry as a Rigger, Crane op. & Deckhand. After another 10 years of the FIFO life away from Freo, I decided it was time to come home.
Settling down and having a daughter to look after, I thought there was a need for a career change.
So…I bought a 12T Tom Thumb crane & started Sandgroper Cranes. The rest is history…
